Italian companies combine for micro-factory Candiani Custom

Italy’s Candiani Denim has launched is first micro-factory, specialising in made-to-measure jeans, produced and washed on-site.

Located at Piazza Mentana 3 in Milan, Candiani Custom is based on five pillars: personalisation, transparency, sustainability, technology and Made in Italy.

The customer can choose every detail, from buttons to rivets to the sewing thread colour, the back patch and optional embroidery. Fabric choices include Coreva, Candiani’s exclusive yarn technology that results in a biodegradable and compostable jean.

The project has involved several Italian companies: FK Group, Tonello, Sip Italy, MIC, Okinawa, Cadica, Nearchimica, Cervo Tessile, Riri - Cobrax and Rotondi.

Candiani said: “Thanks to their advanced technologies, some of which were developed exclusively for Candiani Custom, the project is a reshoring for Italian manufacturing, which combines every step in the production of a pair of jeans under one roof, in the heart of Milan.

“Technology blends innovation and sustainability to deliver the best in luxury, quality and experience, including the speed of time to market. Each pair of jeans created are guaranteed to be the perfect fit for the customer, designed from a bespoke selection of fabrics and carefully chosen wash or laser treatments.”

Candiani Denim is an Italian family business founded in 1938, located between Milan and the Alps in a nature reserve, the Ticino Park. Its goal is to make 100% compostable denim with a positive impact at every stage of its life cycle. The company is headquartered in Robecchetto con Induno and has a Development Centre in Los Angeles.
