AGI Denim recruiters celebrate diverse abilities

Karachi-based producer Artistic Garment Industries (AGI Denim) recently inducted several new employees, all of whom had been recruited via local disability inclusion initiative NOWPDP’s three-month #100Days100Lives campaign.
The stated objective behind the wider project is to provide mentorship and employment opportunities to those living with some form of disability in Pakistan.
According to NOWPDP, 71% of people with disabilities in the country are unemployed, despite national- and provincial-level inclusivity legislation and a Supreme Court order that employment quotas must be implemented.
The covid-19 pandemic has only compounded existing access issues for disabled Pakistanis, both parties said.
In a statement, AGI Denim explained that its participation in the campaign would allow it to provide a livelihood to those with diverse abilities and, by extension, contribute to their attainment of increased economic independence.
