AGI’s Double Zero gets SGS certification

Karachi-headquartered producer Artistic Garment Industries (AGI Denim) has revealed that its proprietary Double Zero process recently obtained certification by Swiss body SGS.
The technology’s name stems from AGI’s assurance of “zero” wastewater generation during both the denim dyeing and finishing processes (the water either evaporates at the end or is recovered at the end).
According to the company, Double Zero not only results in water savings of 90%, but it also effectively achieves “three zeroes” overall: zero discharge of water, zero effluents and zero chemical oxygen demand (COD).
AGI said that the technology was originally inspired by the United Nations (UN)’s seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs). Specifically, goals six (“clean water and sanitation”) and fourteen (“life below water”). The former goal focuses on the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, whereas the latter takes into account the UN’s vision for the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources.
The mill stated that it was proud to have achieved SGS certification for the process, adding that its Double Zero customers would now be able to “enjoy complete transparency” thanks to the Geneva-based organisation’s seal of authentication.
