Course offers chance to dye BLA jeans with natural indigo

London-based duo Luisa Uribe and Liza Mackenzie (pictured) are launching a seven month course during which participants will learn all about growing and dyeing with natural indigo and will dye a pair of Blackhorse Lane Atelier (BLA) jeans to take away.

Towards the end of 2020, BLA announced that it was transforming its allotment into London’s first indigo garden, run by the pair from Indigo Works.

Luisa Uribe is a Colombian designer, making natural indigo textile art and luxury goods. Liza Mackenzie studied indigo and natural dye techniques in Japan between 2009 and 2013 and creates textile products and accessories.

They said: “These courses are a way to slow down the fast-paced life that we as Londoners live, by appreciating the lifecycle of the indigo plants and the process of making the dye. We hope this will inform and educate the participants to think carefully about the choices they make with their future garments.”

The Seed To Dye Course will start in March 2022.
