And they’re off: Belstaff x Blackhorse Lane

UK-based Belstaff has collaborated with East London atelier Blackhorse Lane on a collection of redline selvedge and organic 14-ounce raw European denim garments.

All denim used in the collection has been produced by Isko on shuttle looms from the 1960s.

The capsule includes a men’s Union jacket in a classic trucker silhouette, plus the Union jeans (a mid-rise, straight leg fit with a selvedge outside leg seam). Meanwhile, the women’s Marilyn jacket puts a feminine spin on the trucker jacket and the Marilyn jeans are offered in a high-rise, tapered leg silhouette. The unisex Union bag features a natural herringbone pocket with a natural cotton webbing shoulder strap and zip closure.

Copper rivets, co-branded buttons, natural herringbone internal waistbands and cognac leather patches with dual branding have also all been incorporated throughout.

Belstaff said that the brand was “equally” attracted to Blackhorse Lane’s “eco-conscious credentials” and “sustainable outlook”.

Blackhorse Lane founder Bilgehan “Han” Ates told reporters: “Craftsmanship is the beginning of everything. An appreciation for heritage and respect for our communities is something we share with Belstaff.

“With production having to slow last year during the lockdowns we had to work with a smaller team who took over seven months to carefully produce the collection by hand, something we are very proud of and look forward to continuing our work with Belstaff in the future.”

Belstaff and Christine Rucci (also known as Godmother NYC) are offering a joint ‘Tattoo your jean’ customisation, denim history and sustainability workshop at Belstaff’s Meatpacking District store in New York City on February 13, in celebration of the collection’s launch.

The garments are now available online, as well as in the Belstaff Meatpacking store.
