Kingpins stirs up a celebratory mood
International denim trade show Kingpins, next set to run from April 20 through 21 in Amsterdam, has revealed its intention to celebrate several significant industry anniversaries taking place this year (or since covid-19 first took hold) during its upcoming event.
Perhaps most notably, a special “happy hour party” will take place in celebration of Bavarian chemicals company (and Kingpins Show sponsor) Rudolf Group’s centenary.
Further encouraging something of a festive feel among the denim community, the New York City-based show also made special mention of other industry “kingpins”, including Vicenza-based technology provider Tonello (marking 40 years of making machinery for jeans processing), plus fellow Italian firm and chemicals manufacturer Officina+39, whose parent company Techna Italia will be belatedly celebrating 30 years - now 32 years - in business. (SugarCity’s event will be the first physical Kingpins show since 2019, pre-pandemic.)
Amsterdam’s Kings of Indigo, founded in 2010, will similarly belatedly celebrate a decade (now 12 years) since its initial establishment as a brand.
Meanwhile, Austrian wood-based fibre producer Lenzing, which recently opened the world's largest lyocell plant in Thailand, is also celebrating 30 years of Tencel lyocell cellulosic fibre.
