Monki ushers in new ‘circular’ denim range
A limited-edition denim collection of H&M-owned denim brand Monki follows the principles of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign project.

The collection reworks three of the brand’s favourite fits, the wide-leg Yoko, straight leg Monokimi and tapered and cropped leg Taiki, along with a denim jacket. The fabric is made from a blend of 80% in-conversion cotton and 20% recycled post-consumer cotton and dyed using natural indigo.

Key features include bar tacks to replace rivets and buttons made from electro-plating free aluminium. Pocket bags are made from 100% organic cotton and the sewing thread is a mix of recycled polyester and ‘sustainable’ cotton, the company said. These details will make the items easier to recycle at their end of life.

This experimental range was produced in a total of 5,250 pieces, 1,500 for each jean style and 750 jackets, per Fashion Network.
