Mod9 considers offline opportunities in Korea

Seoul-based denim label Mod9, founded in 2006, has announced plans to accelerate its expansion into offline retail by opening its first brick-and-mortar flagship boutique next year.

First, though, the brand will test the waters with a pop-up location inside a yet unnamed South Korean department store over the next couple of months, local media said.

Entering into an “exclusive” distribution deal with a domestic department store partner in the form of a shop-in-shop concept is also likely, reports suggested. The company’s latest collaboration with Kojima-based Momotaro Jeans, for which there is already a waiting list, is similarly expected to be released sometime soon.

The brand already has a physical presence in two locations in Seoul. It is stocked by independent retailer Prtprt Shop and can be purchased from department store Hyundai Seoul. More recent Mod9 collections have featured Vivolo-made leather back patches featuring designs inspired by the work of Australian artist Will Mahony.
