Levi’s Korea gets experimental

Contemporary art-inspired fashion brand The Museum Visitor, based in Seoul, recently launched a pop-up inside the city’s upscale Boontheshop boutique, located in the Cheongdam ward of Gangnam district.

The experimental brand has partnered Levi’s Korea, in addition to local “sneaker bar”, retailer and brand Casestudy, plus New York City-based British artist Jon Burgerman, on a series of collaborative works ranging from apparel to highly conceptual accessories, homeware and art objects.

Intriguingly, the temporary shop-in-shop’s tagline reads: “The Museum Visitor is the art”.

Open through March 27, deconstructed and upcycled denim articles can be seen fixed to canvases, splashed with paint, rendered as chairs and stools (with multiple, layered Levi’s backpatches serving as an aesthetic “cushion” on one version) and even ripped up and “woven” or assembled into carpets, subsequently strewn across the venue’s industrial-looking floors.

Levi’s Korea has also recently unveiled a fruit- and vegetable-inspired Fresh collection, local media reported recently. Natural vegetable dyes and water-saving technologies all feature as part of the line, which includes a selection of original-fit 501 jeans and graphic t-shirts.
