Recycrom continues to make a splash in Amsterdam

Following its participation in denim trade show Kingpins’ Amsterdam edition over October 19-20, Italian chemicals company Officina39 remained in the Dutch capital to share more about its Recycrom range of sustainable dyestuffs during a seminar on denim and dyeing at the city’s Fashion for Good Museum.

During the knowledge exchange sessions, organised by local textile heritage body Stichting Textielcommissie Nederland, managing director Andrea Venier discussed the mainly mechanical, patented process behind Recycrom technology that allows it to obtain powdered pigments for textile dyeing and printing applications from cellulosic fabric scraps.

Officina39 is currently part of a group show at the museum called Knowing Cotton Otherwise, an exhibition of works by local artists inspired by the history of cotton, the fibre's cross-cultural role in the current context of globalisation and its ongoing “circular transformation”. An installation by local artist and recent Amsterdam University of the Arts graduate Caithlin Courtney Chong is among the displays which bear Recycrom's mark.

The dyestuffs range is an alum of Fashion for Good’s nine-month global innovation programme, designed to validate technologies alongside industry prior to implementation, having been a member of its 2020 cohort.
