Officina39 maps its technologies at ITMA

Italy’s Officina39 highlighted its sustainable chemistry at the International Textile Machinery Association (ITMA) exhibition in Milan through a collaboration with Italian artist Ryts Monet called World Map (pictured).
The artwork, also presented to the public at Cittadellarte art gallery in Biella, uses areas of faded denim to represent fast fashion’s impact on global and local resources.
Officina39 managing director Andrea Venier spoke at the Transforming The World Of Textile Colourants Through Green Chemistry forum to promote Recycrom Pure and Recycrom Ready to Dye – a range of pigment powders 100% derived from recycled used clothing, fibrous material and textile scraps.
Other technologies on display included the Ecobinder R Series of binders made from windshields and safety glass, used in in printing, spray coating and dyeing processes and coloured with normal pigments or combined with Recycrom; Aqualess Activator, a pumice stone-free waterless solution for faded looks on indigo and black denim; and MadeToFade technology, creating worn looks directly on dyed fabric through a continuous application method.
