Bluezone takes off next week

Bluezone, the dedicated denim section of textile trade show Munich Fabric Start (MFS), will be opening its doors next Tuesday & Wednesday, in Hall 7 of the M.O.C. Some 100 international suppliers will be presenting their latest accessories, fabrics and garment solutions for denim brands and retailers.

MFS show organisers expect 20,000 trade visitors will attend the multifaceted event. In addition to denims, in the Bluezone, and ready-to-wear fabrics, at MFS, next-gen textiles are featured in the Keyhouse section, and novel sustainability solutions are on display in the Zenith area of hall 5.

Discovery, the main theme of the next denim show, references both the role that a trade fair plays as a place to discover new fabrics, new people, new technologies, and as an invitation to explore new frontiers, as illustrated by the space age graphics. Visitors to the show will enter the Bluezone through a tunnel presenting the season’s four themes.

Tilmann Wröbel, who is part of the trend team that defines the themes, and is also a contributor to Inside Denim, previews these for us:

Modern Art Emporium explores the growing role that fashion plays in the world of art and how contemporary artists could also help fashion escape from the traditional (tired?) seasonal trends.

One by One Theory focuses on how younger generations now dress. “Each individual product they wear has something distinctive, and this generation doesn’t care if it doesn’t ‘go’ with the other stuff they wear. They don’t think in terms of silhouette anymore,” says Mr Wröbel.

InstaTok looks at the influence of social media on the lifecycle of brands (i.e. the rise of Shein) and how they also empower consumers in new ways, as seen in the DIY/mending/second-hand hashtags as well as in the spoofs and parodies.

Low No Tech delves into the modernity and edginess of low or no tech design. This could help mills, says Mr Wröbel, infuse newness to the industry’s obsession with authenticity.

For an in-depth presentation of these and more, catch his trend seminar on Wednesday, 10.30 to 11 am, at the Bluezone seminar section.
