Yilmak taking new Xeros-enabled system to ITMA

Textile finishing technology developer Yilmak, headquartered in Turkey, will present a lower impact machine based on Xeros Technology’s XFN system during the ITMA trade show in Milan between June 8 and 14.

The 5,000-litre Ecogreen EGW-500 machine is the first Xeros-enabled system to result from the partnership. It hinges upon UK-based Xeros’ patented XOrbs and XDrum solutions, which together form a closed loop.

XOrbs’ polymer spheres can be used instead of pumice stones to produce an eco-friendlier, less time-consuming stonewash effect in an XDrum. This specialist drum automates the beads’ distribution and retrieval.

Xeros said XFN leaves finished denims and textiles softer, with greater tear strength, after shorter cycle times. The technology also uses less water, energy, chemistry and time overall, it added. XFN will next be rolled out across a host of Yilmak’s dyeing, ozone, washing and drying equipment, all of which can be ordered via KRM Tekstil Boya.

“Yilmak is proud to announce the collaboration with Xeros, which will bring about a new era in the sustainable denim garment washing industry,” its general manager for sales and marketing, Furkan Civelek, commented.

“This partnership aims to minimise the amount of water, chemicals and energy used in the process of creating denim garments to reduce environmental impact. [Our] collaborative effort represents a significant step forward in the quest for more sustainable fashion practices and Yilmak and Xeros are committed to leading the change.”
