Former H&M chief chooses Circulose for her comeback
Specialist in recycling cellulosic textile waste Circulose has announced that Helena Helmersson, the former chief executive of fashion group H&M, will be the new chair of its board of directors.

At the same time, it announced Jonatan Janmark as its new chief executive. He was formerly a partner at consultancy group McKinsey and Company.

Both of the company’s new leaders will take up their roles on December 1.

Swedish investment firm in Altor acquired the remaining assets of textiles recycling innovator Renewcell in June this year and relaunched the company under the new name Circulose.

Circulose was the name Renewcell used for the material it made from recycling cellulosic textile waste, including used cotton clothes and production scraps. Renewcell filed for bankruptcy in February, 2024.

Helena Helmersson said she was thrilled to join the company, with the moving coming ten months after she stepped down from H&M. She spent 26 years at the fashion group, the last four as chief executive.

She said: “Circulose feels very much like a natural fit for me. I look forward to contributing with my many years of experience in the fashion industry.”
