Pakistan-based Soorty is exploring novel functional denims, including next-gen collagen-enhanced fabrics, which were first shown at Kingpins last October. The Collagen Denim fabrics are made from Umorfil yarns developed by a Taiwanese company and derived from seafood industry by-products, namely fish scales. These are said to contain collagen peptides that have moisturising and soothing properties.

“Imagine jeans that care for you,” commented marketing manager Eda Dikmen, noting that these fabrics have many possible applications including “serving as an ideal foundation for adaptive clothing”.
