Soorty steps up farm-to-fashion traceability
09/04/2025
The company operates two responsible cotton growing schemes, for organic (SOCI) and regenerative cotton, through the Soorty Regenagri Initiative SRI, which it said help ensure that farmers have access to non-GMO seeds, financial security, training and long-term support. It intends to achieve Regenerative Organic certification by the end of the year.
Soorty is also implementing a traceability project, with geolocation, which will provide brand partners, and eventually consumers, with visibility into the origin of the cotton. It expects the first QR-coded cotton bales to be produced this year as well. In a partnership with Sawie, a digital agricultural platform, farmers will have access to real-time insights, resource optimisation and various climate-smart farming solutions.
Finally, the company began the year with the launch of an in-house laboratory, the Soorty Seed Integrity Lab, to monitor and enhance cotton quality, test fibre purity, GMO free seed, and sustainability metrics.
“As we embrace project digitalisation, we are revolutionising farmer advisory with modern tools, ensuring traceability through the digital bale passport, and strengthening our initiatives with a dedicated seed laboratory. By launching the new ROC project, we are not just advancing sustainability—we are empowering farmers, enhancing transparency, and shaping the future of responsible agriculture,” commented Dr. Yousaf, Soorty’s head of agriculture ventures and traceability.
