Long John gives military spin to Western shirt
Wouter Munnichs’ latest collab celebrates a long-standing relationship between the Dutch denim expert and German denim brand Blaumann Jeanshosen. Long John reworked one of the brand’s best-sellers, a classic Western shirt in a slim, modern fit.

The denim fabric is a rigid 8.5oz denim made by Candiani and the ripstop camouflage fabric comes from deadstock. The German-made shirts, available in 50 numbered units, are stitched with tobacco-coloured thread. They feature special details, such as an embroidered Long John Lucky Golden Button logo, which pays tribute to mid 19th century gold miners in California. The laurel leaf motif that adorns the button refers to a symbol of peace imposed on garment makers during the wartime restrictions of World War II. The five-pointed star is said to represent five-star quality. Mr Wouters said that the dark blue embroidery will gradually stand out as the shirt fades with wear and washing, a subtle nod to “denim’s evolving character over time”.
