Wouter Munnichs launches e-shop, plans ‘shopstreams’

After celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his Long John blog last year, denim consultant Wouter Munnichs has stepped into e-commerce with the soft launch of a webshop for premium denim brands and speciality styles.

The aim is to grow the store organically, Mr Munnichs tells Inside Denim, with scope for exclusive collaborations in the future. Storytelling will be key, so brands with a backstory aligned with Long John’s own of-the-moment, yet knowledge-rich content will be favoured. The target market is the “conscious” consumer who prioritises quality over quantity.

“You don’t need to be a hardcore denimhead to buy [something from the site], but you do need to be interested in specially made, high-quality jeans,” Mr Munnichs says.

Live-commerce “shopstreams” with the founder will further serve to set the shop apart by way of expert-led commentary and in-depth product descriptions. “Basically, I am connecting brands with customers, the same way as with the content on Long John,” he summarises.

Subscribers will be alerted when streams begin, and shoppers will be able to purchase all articles showcased via a "buy now" function either during or after the show. Once checkout has been completed, brand partners will receive notification to fulfil the order directly.
