Forensic traceability platform launches

MeiLin Wan, a former executive at Applied DNA Sciences, has just launched a new company, GenuTrace, which is fully dedicated to traceability in global supply chains. “After almost 20 years at Applied DNA, I felt it was the right time to build something more agile, multi-disciplinary, and independent—focused specifically on the growing demand for science-backed traceability across global supply chains,” she told Inside Denim. “GenuTrace was born out of that vision: to combine forensic verification methods like stable isotope analysis, tracer technologies, and digital product passports to help brands move from claims to proof.”

Isotope testing, using IRMS and PCR tests that came to prominence during covid (and one of the technologies offered by Applied DNA Sciences), is useful for companies needing to comply with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) in the United States and the Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products (EUDR) in Europe.

Brand protection and product authentication are also an important part of the bew platform which Ms Wan said was “already working with clients across the U.S., Europe and Asia”.
