SS27 looks bright for Officina39

Italian chemicals producer Officina39 has presented several new developments for SS27, including its ‘Shades of Sunset’ collection (pictured), with colours and finishes inspired by the shifting hues of the sky at dusk.

At Kingpins in Amsterdam, the company also introduced Marvel Metal Laser, a new development within the Marvel Coating concept, as well as a Y2K collection of products that create strong contrasts, vintage vibes and a reimagined “dirty colour” that adds character to garments.

There were two new pigment-based products in its Marvel Color range: Pigment Acid Fade, powered by Novapret Acid Fade, creates a pronounced vintage acid-wash effect with only one enzymatic or stone-wash step; and Laser Color, based on Novapret Laser Color, which enables pigment fixation through laser while producing high-definition effects.

Its Smart Bright products – families of anti-backstaining, post-treatment and finishing products – are receiving very good feedback from its laundry customers, according to project manager Michela Masiero. These products prevent the yellowing that can be caused by ozone, creating brighter shades and protecting the indigo. Similarly, Smart Black avoids the use of caustic soda, reduces water consumption and involves one step compared with the usual three.

Among its products, ZeroPP|ALL.IN –- which the company bills as a cost-neutral alternative to potassium permanganate because it requires fewer processing steps – stands out as a key innovation. Applied directly to raw garments, the three-step process (spray, laser marking, dry ozone) requires no rinsing, enabling a cleaner and faster workflow.

Another advantage is that with PP, workers need to apply the product precisely, whereas Officina’s product can be applied to the whole area. This enhances consistency, adds Ms Masiero, and therefore reduces the chance of reprocessing.

ZeroPP|ALL.IN  is also now applicable to sulphur black denim and dyed garments.
