The Reflection collection is designed using Crystal Clear 3.0 - a salt-free, waterless dyeing process - and ozone via Jeanologia’s G2 Dynamic technology.
The technology reduces water consumption up to 80%, uses fewer chemicals and reduces BOD/COD (chemical and biological oxygen demand), said the companies.
Ebru Ozaydin, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Artistic Milliners, said it is important to keep resources in circulation longer and at the highest possible value. “A year ago, we launched the Circular Blue platform where we seek solutions with our business partners to implement circular models in denim making.
“In 2017, we launched Crystal Clear Clean indigo dyeing technology with G-Star and chemicals group DyStar. Crystal Clear philosophy refers to responsible production and consumption.”
The Reflection range has up to 50% Tencel Refibra (which uses post-consumer waste recycled and organic cotton plus wood pulp) in the blend and is certified Cradle to Cradle gold level.
Alex Penades, brand manager at Jeanologia, explained: “Historically, we applied ozone on garments to fade the colours, avoiding some chemicals and a lot of water. But about eight or nine years ago we wanted to bring the technology to the fabric so we developed the G2 Dynamic ozone machine that combines time and exposure of ozone, plus concentration, bringing great characteristics while saving water and time.”

Jeanologia also operates Environmental Impact Management (EIM) software, which measures labour, water, chemicals and energy and is used by denim mills around the world. “When you are working with G2 Dynamic, there are a number of benefits for the fabric, such as the laser works more efficiently and no reprocessing is needed because you avoid back-staining.”
Artistic Milliners said Lenzing and Jeanologia are the perfect partners for its new range – part of its quest for circular models - and show how partnerships across the supply chain can help to improve sustainability credentials at each stage of the design process.
Ms Ozaydin added: “We value collaboration, it’s a reflection of UN Sustainable Development Goals 17, which is about partnerships. Collaboration is the new competition!”
