Berto celebrates teamwork with new collections
Italy-based denim maker Berto has teamed up with Ereks for a collection made by Blue Matters, its new R&D and wash facility based in Turkey.

The BBM (Berto-Blue Matters) Capsule Collection is the first in a series of collaborations between Berto and garment makers, brands, yarn producers and chemicals groups that will “make denim production beautiful, unique and sustainable.”

Berto CEO Flavio Berto explained the initiative was inspired by United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. “By 2030 we want to do our best to support other actors of the value chain, sharing our vision and our beautiful, unique and sustainable philosophy.”

The BBM collection is made up of 14 pieces by designer Beril Karabiyik. All Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) scores are green and the garments have been made without permanganate, chlorine or stone. Fabric is from Berto’s SS22 collection, as well as some “authentic and unique” PG Denim fabrics.

Eylem Temizkan, a board member at Blue Matters, said: "Blue Matters Platform has been built on a strong circularity vision by making sure that we also contribute to our environment by saving water, energy and minimising waste and chemical usage. We realised this vision requires synergy and collaboration with the most valuable denim producers, and Berto is definitely one of them.”

Berto was founded in 1887 in Bovolenta and it is still run by the fourth generation of the Berto family. Ereks-Blue Matters is a woven garments producer, which produces 150,000 pieces per month. Blue Matters was launched last year.
