Tonello and Rudolf Hub1922 unveil collaborative laser innovations
New laser effects achieved through the combination of two “breakthrough” technologies, Tonello’s THE Laser and Rudolf Hub1922’s Laser Smoother, were announced during Kingpins24 Flash.
The effects are “more natural” and closer to those realised through manual scraping of denim, a joint press release said, with the efficiency of processes noticeably increased.
As a result, “questionable practices” such as the use of potassium permanganate spray have been eliminated.
Rudolf’s fashion division head, Alberto De Conti, commented on the innovation while speaking at Kingpins: “The secret is the quality of the ingredients being blended. It is based on salt, which amplified the action of the laser; a micro detergent, which removes the burn patina and enhances the look; and a simple polymer which sticks to the surface.
“When we worked with Tonello, we found this was cheaper or comparable in cost to potassium permanganate - so why would you not switch?”
Marketing, research and development director at Tonello, Alice Tonello, described how the partnership happened “very naturally” after the two companies met in Milan and discovered a common vision, values and synergies.
“We got a fresh perspective,” Mr De Conti added.
