The very best of times: Cone Denim x Miles Johnson x Tonello

US denim manufacturer Cone Denim, British designer Miles Johnson and Italian garment finishing technology group Tonello have collaborated on 'The very best of times', a heritage-inspired capsule collection set to debut at Kingpins24 Flash in late February.
The “sustainable” collection of 12 workwear-inspired garments and totes features natural indigo, organic cotton, recycled cotton, hemp, natural dyes and “naturally soft techniques”, Cone said in a press release. The mills’ Cottonwood, Montauk, Hayes and Indigo selvedge styles have all been included.
For its part, Tonello created washes with zero harmful chemicals, no stones and a “minimum” amount of water. The technology group utilised its OBleach and Wake Dye techniques to create light wash-downs without bleach and natural dyes using only vegetable waste and organic raw materials, respectively.
Maria Gunnarsson’s Amsterdam-based AMK Atelier worked on all the pattern work for the collection.
Cone Denim’s director of product design, Pierette Scavuzzo, commented: “The collection brought together a group of long-time friends with a shared love and passion for denim authenticity and sustainability. It was a project from the heart, intended to uplift and inspire during a very unusual time.”
