Isabel Marant closes the loop in France

French fashion label Isabel Marant recently launched Isabel Marant Vintage, an own brand second-hand site geared towards lessening the environmental footprint of its designs by keeping them in circulation for longer, in its home country.

The brand will accept donations of used Marant garments in exchange for vouchers which can be used to purchase new or vintage articles from the label, online or in stores.

Hand-picked second-hand articles will subsequently be restored and resold via the platform, alongside deadstock apparel, shoes and accessories from past collections already in the possession of the brand.

Proceeds will support the Isabel Marant endowment fund, created to enhance women’s access to education, plus help develop artisanship in indigenous communities.

In a statement given to reporters, the brand said: “Based on the notions of sustainability and heritage, this initiative provides an effective solution towards making fashion more circular.”

Launched in 1994, Isabel Marant retains its eponymous founder as creative director, though Paris-based Montefiore Investment took a majority stake in the company in 2016.
