Soorty ‘honoured’ to join Dutch Denim Deal

Karachi-headquartered denim mill and manufacturer Soorty recently announced its participation in the Dutch Denim Deal.
A public-private initiative, the Denim Deal launched in October 2020 with support from 30 signatories including the city of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Economic Board, the Netherlands’ Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the municipalities of Haarlem and Zaanstad, alongside prominent denim brands including Mud Jeans and Kings of Indigo.
The deal was initially put together in response to the European Green Deal and Circular Economy Action Plan.
By adding its signature, Soorty has committed to making three million pairs of jeans containing at least 20% post-consumer recycled cotton fibre by end 2023. It has also signed up to working with the deal’s other participants towards implementing a minimum standard of 5% post-consumer recycled cotton across all its denim production by the close of the same year.
Soorty commented that it was “honoured” to join other members of the industry in signing the deal, which it said represented “another very solid step” towards realising its own existing sustainability goals.
