Kings of Indigo swims towards sustainability with Candiani

Amsterdam-based denim brand Kings of Indigo recently launched a capsule collection in collaboration with Italian denim producer Candiani, which Kings described on social media as “one of the world’s greenest mills”.

The Dutch brand and Candiani have collaborated on limited edition, trucker- and French workwear-inspired denim jackets, made using the mill’s patented biodegradable and compostable stretch denim, Coreva.

All pieces (available in blue, black and ecru denim) have been finished with recycled metal buttons.

Titled ‘Swim Upstream’, the environmentally-conscious capsule celebrates Kings’ dual design “heritage”, Americana rebellion and Japanese craftsmanship, with vibrant patch artwork featuring stylised, Japanese koi fishes and Americana-inspired lettering, for example. At the end of the product’s life, Kings hopes the wearer will reuse the patches on other garments, thereby extending their use.

“Together with Candiani, we swam against the current of fast fashion to create something truly unique [with this collection], that you can treasure for years to come,” the brand said.
