New head of digital at Levi Strauss

20/01/2023
To beef up its digital and data-led operations, San Francisco-based denim brand Levi Strauss has named Jason Gowans chief digital officer. The former head of digital commerce for Nordstrom, where he spent the past 10 years, will take on his new position as a senior vice-president on February 6. He will report to Michelle Gass, president, and sit on the executive leadership team, the group said.

Last year, the group had announced a new five-year growth plan that centres on increasing direct-to-consumer revenues, with the aim to make them bring in 55% of the group’s annual sales. This strategy includes increased investment in online platforms and “other digital capabilities” to deliver a more integrated, omnichannel shopping experience for consumers.

Commenting on his new post, Jason Gowans said: “I am excited to join Levi Strauss & Co. and build upon the success of the team’s direct-to-consumer efforts to date. With such an iconic brand and millions of consumers worldwide already shopping on Levi.com, there’s a clear opportunity to accelerate the profitable growth of the DTC business and focus on key areas of the company where data science can make an impact.”
