Diesel Japan rolls out new ‘recollection’ project

Fashion label Diesel’s Japanese business commenced a take-back programme for its jeans on January 25 as part of a new denim recollection campaign.
Participating main brand and Diesel Accessories stores will accept customers’ unwanted denim jeans until February 26.
In return for each donation, members of the brand’s loyalty scheme will receive 10% off a single article from its current jeanswear collection on the day.
The only exceptions to this rule are Diesel’s menswear boutiques inside Mitsukoshi’s Ginza and Nagoya Sakae department stores, plus its JR Kyoto Isetan and Isetan Shinjuku retail locations. Each will offer a ¥3,000 or approximately $23 denim discount for every pair of jeans dropped off on the same day. They will also all cease accepting donations before the campaign ends elsewhere on February 26, if donations exceed the maximum number of jeans they can take back before this time.
Childrenswear or any other kind of denims are not eligible and items must only be dropped off in-store.
Suitable jeans will be cleaned and refurbished ahead of resale in Diesel’s stores in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, Fukuoka and inside the Creare shopping centre in Nagoya. Others will be upcycled.
