The group’s three production units in the Northeast region of Brazil are Regenagri certified, enabling traceability of regenerative cotton.
In addition to promoting biodiversity and carbon sequestration, regenerative cotton cultivation in Brazil is exclusively carried out using rainwater. "Vicunha takes pride in being the first Brazilian company to incorporate locally sourced and traceable regenerative cotton into its production. These fabrics are crafted using environmentally conscious methods and contribute to the development of local producers and their surroundings," said German Alejandro, CMO of Vicunha.
There will be a wide range of autumn-winter 25-26 fabrics on display in Amsterdam, including a collaboration with Austria’s Lenzing, the Tencel x Regenerative Cotton Denim Collection. Tuncay Kiliçkan, head of business development for denim at Lenzing, said: “We’d like to give a comprehensive message to the industry based on a product range, which has a strong story in terms of sustainability, trend and consumer satisfaction.”
Another concept, Premium Crafts, will showcase fabrics crafted with special dobby designs and a blend of sustainable fibres, including ABR-certified cotton, hemp, linen, man-made cellulosic fibres and recycled materials sourced from Vicunha’s production facilities.
Other collections will include New Vintage, embracing the 90s revival with vintage blues, high-lows, comfort stretches and irregular visuals; Timeless, which caters for classic jeans; Wide & Flash non-denim solutions; and Fit & Flex stretch denim.
The company's goal by 2030, in line with the UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), is to reduce water consumption in its manufacturing operations and eliminate the use of surface water sources in the state of Ceará. Recent initiatives have resulted in an annual saving of over 160 million litres of water in the last two years, said the company. Its new VSA project will capture, treat and reuse water used in its industrial processes, aiming to reduce raw water intake from city sources by up to 100%.
The group also offers an innovation hub in Ceará. V.Laundry offers advanced prototyping software for smart laundries, enabling designers and brands to create prototypes and conduct fabric tests.
