New bio-derived Lycra takes the stage

The Lycra Company will be showcasing the very first denim fabrics and garment samples made from its 70% biobased elastane, Lycra EcoMade, at Kingpins in Amsterdam this week. The lower impact stretch fibre, made possible through a partnership with agro-biotech company Qore, will be available on a large scale in the first half of 2025 the company said.

“There’s no need to sacrifice performance for renewable content with bio-derived Lycra EcoMade fibre. We are committed to transitioning to renewable resources as a key part of our sustainability strategy, and it can help brands and retailers reduce their environmental impact, too,” commented Nicolas Banyols, chief commercial officer of The Lycra Company.

The new Lycra FitSense denim technology, introduced at Kingpins this past April, will also be featured on the company’s booth.
