Guess outlines targets in ESG report

Fashion brand Guess has published it FY2024–2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report titled “It’s in Our DNA.”

During the period, the company launched the Guess Jeans collection, inspired by styles of the 1980s and 1990s but remade using organic or recycled materials.

A cornerstone of this initiative is the introduction of Guess Airwash technology, developed with Jeanologia. It replaces stone-washing methods with lasers, ozone and nanobubbles, significantly reducing water and energy consumption.

Since a FY2019 base year, Guess reduced Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by over 70%, mainly through the purchase of Energy Attribute Certificates.

It aims to use 80% regenerative, recycled or organic cotton for all apparel brands by 2030; in FY2024 and in FY2025, 27% was environmentally preferred.

Similarly, it aims to use 80% recycled or bio-based polyester for its apparel mainline by 2025, and for all apparel brands by 2030. In FY2024 and in FY2025, 19% of the polyester used for all apparel brands was environmentally preferred.

The group is aiming to be “water positive” in the supply chain, replenishing more water than used, by 2035; and become a signatory of ZDHC by 2026.

CEO Carlos Alberini said: “We’re setting clear targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase preferred materials in our collections, advance in circular fashion and strengthen corporate social responsibility across our global supply chain.”
