Armedangels joins ZDHC to further environmental ambitions

German fashion brand Armedangels has joined ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) as a ‘signatory friend’.
ZDHC provides a structured approach to align expectations with suppliers, track progress and gradually close gaps, it explained.
In its recent sustainability report, the brand outlined that by next year, 100% of mapped wet processing suppliers should be compliant with ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (or similar).
By the end of this year, it aims to set science-based absolute carbon reduction targets aligned to the 1.5-degree warming scenario, and ensure all Portugal-based direct production partners have roadmaps in place to transition to renewable energy by 2030.
In 2024, the brand’s total carbon footprint grew by 20% compared with the year before, due to increased sales. “This reinforces why we need to focus on reducing emissions throughout our operations and decoupling growth from environmental and social impact,” it said.
Denim makes up 10% of sales, and these grew 15% during the year.
In May, Armedangels opened its first own-brand store, in Cologne.
