Customers’ desire for comfort and changes to working patterns caused by the pandemic will have an influence on denim trends, according to Turkish mill Bossa.

It has split its denim fabrics for spring-summer 2022 into four categories: Heritage, Dark Side, Sweet Home and Nature Breath.

“We take inspiration from different sources; from cultural movements, from social movements, from fashion trends and we try to translate that into our denims,” said Bossa designer Piero Turk.

Heritage is a recurring category, drawing inspiration from the past, creating authentic looks using modern technologies. “We say the beauty of a tree is in its branches but the strength is in the roots,” said Mr Turk. “So we keep our roots in denim history but we create new looks every season.”

This category includes Ever Fit technology, recycled cotton and Tencel, natural indigo dyes and a yarn with antimicrobial properties.

Dark Side is the black and grey denims, of which Bossa says it offers one of the most comprehensive selections. Fabrics blend Refibra from Lenzing with organic cotton, and are dyed using a water-saving process. One fabric uses 79% recycled cotton, 1% recycled elastane and 20% organic cotton. “We are blending new fibres and new technologies and creating wonderful product that can fade easily or stay black forever," said Mr Turk.

Sweet Home is a collection of comfortable and high elasticity denims, embracing the idea of people working from home. It includes Polygiene antimicrobial finishes, Ami Soul Eco biodegradable yarn, and fabrics dyed with Save Blue technology.

Nature Breath includes hemp and Tencel blends, special coatings and supports sizeless products. “The last one is important,” added Mr Turk. “We love nature and we have taken inspiration from the peace you feel when walking through a forest.”
