Soko Chimica touts powers of Black Magic

Italian chemicals company Soko Chimica has developed a product for black denim that saves water by achieving the same bleaching in single bath of water that would normally be achieved in two or more, and which also saves time and energy, it claims.
Matteo Urbini, managing director of Soko Chimica, said: “Grey denim will be a strong new trend for the coming seasons but even so, the discolouration or bleaching of sulphur black denim is a regular part of the industrial process. This operation requires plenty of water as it needs several steps and baths, high temperatures and high emission of CO2, plus, alkali washes are quite aggressive on fabrics. Our new product makes the process much more environmentally and production friendly.”
