Oritain and Panda Biotech offer traceable hemp fibre
New Zealand-headquartered Oritain, a specialist in the field of scientifically verifying origin, has joined hands with US industrial hemp fibre grower Panda Biotech to develop what it is describing as the world’s first fully traceable (“from field to garment”) hemp fibre.
Through use of Oritain’s traceability technology, the partnership will enable Panda to assure both its brand partners and the end consumer that all the textile-grade, cottonised hemp fibre it processes in its Texas facilities is authentic US-grown hemp, a joint press release said.
President at Panda Biotech, Dixie Carter, described her excitement at the prospect of company stakeholders, specifically global brand partners, to have “complete confidence” in Panda’s US-grown and -processed industrial hemp when analysing and communicating their product offer.
Adding to this, Oritain chief executive, Grant Cochrane, stated: “Companies like Panda Biotech are working hard to deliver viable, green alternatives to synthetics for the textile industry and we’re incredibly proud to not only help protect their work, but to underpin it with scientific trust and integrity.
“Together, we can build a traceable and transparent textile hemp industry.”
