True Religion recruits ahead of women’s relaunch

Californian fashion label True Religion, particularly well-known for its designer denims, has carved out a new place on its senior leadership team for ex-TechStyle vice-president and former Guess design director Tina Blake.
Ms Blake will take up the post of senior vice-president, women’s design and brand image, the company said. Reporting to chief executive Michael Buckley, she will work closely with creative director Zihaad Wells to take True Religion’s women’s division to “the next level”, as Mr Buckley put it, including relaunching its core denim collection with a wider range of washes, sizes and silhouettes. “Our goal over the next three years is to increase women’s sales from 35% today to being on par with men’s at 50% of the business,” he explained.
“We have a legion of loyal women’s consumers and are very excited to fuel growth in this category.”
In her most recent role at TechStyle, Ms Blake managed the European and North American design and product development teams for its JustFab and ShoeDazzle brands, overseeing apparel, footwear and handbags. On joining True Religion, she said she was thrilled and excited to help build “one of the most iconic names in fashion”.
