Aware’s tracer particles are added to the fibre pre-production, creating a “unique fingerprint”.
Calik creates a digital “twin” version, which includes properties such as composition, colour, weight, and the original certification, and is registered in blockchain. Blockchain is a database technology that connects transactions to each other.
The two companies have launched a limited edition collection with four products made with fully traceable recycled materials.
Calik said: “Environmentally conscious consumers and customers are now asking to prove the legitimacy of recycled materials. And until recently, connecting traceability and recycled materials was difficult.
"However, with the advancement of cloud computing, blockchain technology and tracer material scanning, the textile industry now has the chance to become transparent, reliable, and cleaner.”
