Couture denim to go on show at PV Milan

06/10/2021
A new collaboration between PG Denim chief executive, Paolo Gnutti, fashion designer Barbara Anna Corradini and haute couture students from the Teatro Regio di Parma opera house is due to be unveiled at Denim Première Vision Milan (PV Milan), set to take place at the city’s Superstudio Più between October 13 and 14.

Two couture denim dresses, inspired by the life and taste of Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma (and the second wife of Napoleon), who lived between 1791 and 1847, form the fruits of the collaboration. The Parma opera house was inaugurated in 1829 at the duchess’ behest.

Using PG Denim fabrics, Ms Corradini’s visions for the dresses have been realised by the hands of the opera house’s students. The initial concept was the ‘dream’ of what Marie Louise would choose to wear to the premiere of the theatre season, had she lived today.

As a preview, intricate hand embroidery in gold and white (colours often associated with the duchess) reportedly provides a contrasting complement to the textures of the “innovative and precious” denim fabrics used.

The co-created couture articles will be revealed to the press at 4.30pm on October 13.
