With global travel restrictions, more brands and clients have been viewing fabrics digitally, and the Turkish group said it is commonplace to see virtual fashion collections and campaigns featuring digital avatars. 

Isko World is a resource to help buyers and its sales team, where there is a “room” dedicated to Responsible Innovation, with information about how the company is approaching its environmental and social responsibilities. 

Isko has also signed a deal with the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textile and Apparel (HKRITA) to use its Green Machine garment-to-garment recycling technology.

Green Machine technology uses a hydrothermal process to separate cotton and polyester in clothing, turning the polyester into new fibres and the cotton into a cellulose powder. The process is gentle, which allows the fibres to retain their properties.

HKRITA has been running one of the machines in Hong Kong for several years and a second opened in an H&M store in Stockholm in the autumn of 2020. The institute’s chief executive, Edwin Keh, said: “We are excited to learn that Isko recognises our innovation and will bring this recycling solution into its production. Seeing this project become truly commercially viable is wonderful.”
