Isko sets 85% recycled content target

Denim maker Isko has joined the The Jeans Redesign – a project established by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular initiative to encourage the denim industry to move towards a circular economy.
The Turkish fabric group has made a commitment that 85% of its fabric production will consist of recycled material content made from pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled materials.
It will use its R-TWO system, which combines reused cotton, taken from Isko’s production loss and recycled polyester derived from PET bottles.
Ebru Özküçük, Isko’s head of sustainability, said: “We are dedicated to helping build a sustainable future for the world; it is critical for the industry to work together to bring positive change. Our participation in The Jeans Redesign brings us one step closer to creating a fully circular fashion industry.”
The company recently signed a licensing agreement with research and development company HKRITA for its Green Machine, which separates and recycles cotton and polyester blends at scale. The agreement will eventually enable the company to offer a 100% post-consumer recycling solution to all its customers.
Make Fashion Circular Make Fashion Circular was launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit 2017. It has published an update to the guidelines this week.
