KakaoTalk-powered eco brand primed for success

Makers Prime, an in-house clothing brand launched in 2019 by Kakao Makers (a build-to-order online market, established in 2016 by popular South Korean mobile messenger operator KakaoTalk), will showcase its environmentally conscious denim on a KakaoTalk sister app, Kakao Style, from November 9 to 17.

Kakao Style is known for its fashion content curation for KakaoTalk users.

The brand’s “less water denim” (which, according to the company, saves up to 80% of water in the production process) will feature prominently in the mix, with other flagship products such as knitwear made from recycled PET bottles (20 bottles per knit), “eco nylon pants” (produced using leftover nylon) and “bio slacks” (created using biologically produced Sorona yarn) also available for purchase.

Makers Prime’s Kakao Style collaboration comes as the brand issued a press release on November 10, which described its desire to re-present and promote itself as an explicitly eco-friendly initiative that champions ethical consumption in all aspects, from material production through to packaging and eventual upcycling.
