Officina+39 infuses Bluezone with ‘trustainability’

Italian chemicals and dyes company Officina+39 recently revealed its latest “trustainability” collection, Better Seasons, at Bluezone in Munich.

The key pillars behind its “trustainable” approach include innovation, sustainable practices, transparency and social responsibility, the company said.

Among the technologies explored in the collection, Officina+39 particularly singled out its “low-impact” Aqualess Mission and Recycrom (a coloured powder dyestuff upcycled from textile waste) offerings. It also highlighted how it had recently partnered Swiss chemical verification company Bluesign.

Talking with Inside Denim during the two-day event, managing director, Andrea Venier, stressed how Aqualess Mission can help companies looking to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their existing equipment by creating a dry cloud in the washing machine, as opposed to conventional nebulisation.

Officina+39 is also one of ten supply chain players (the others being Meidea, Lenzing, Tejidos Rojo, Calik Denim, Ribbontex, Spring85, Dr Bock Industries, Crafil and RGT) involved in the formation of Culture. In, a “circular” capsule which is apparently traceable “from fibre to finish”.

Transparently made from recycled and degradable materials, as the collection is described by its co-creators, Culture. In will be presented during Bluezone.

In related fair news, the winners of the Worn Mission, a challenge issued by denim insider Ani Wells and undertaken by Officina+39, in addition to Calik Denim and Blue Matters, are also due to be announced at the show. (The “mission” brief was to recreate a typically water-intensive vintage-look light wash “in the most sustainable way”, inspired by an old pair of Levi’s 505 Straight jeans Ms Wells sourced from the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market in California.)

On his company’s numerous innovations and collaborations on view at Bluezone, Mr Venier commented: “Sustainability is rooted into everything we do. From our own collections to the relationships we build to the projects we take part in, we always make sure to bring a positive change to the table, sharing our technologies and knowledge for the good of the denim industry.

“Our presence at Bluezone is a testament to this commitment: it’s good to be back.”
