Live washing demos at Soko’s Goldschmied celebration
On the sidelines of menswear show Pitti Uomo, ‘Godfather of Denim’ Adriano Goldschmied will join chemicals manufacturer Soko and Bangladesh-based mill Pioneer Denim at a special invite-only event to celebrate his “iconic design vision”.
Held in the 17th century courtyard of Soko Projects Division in Florence on June 17, pieces crafted in premium Pioneer denim using African cotton will be washed on site in front of guests using Soko’s Hydrogel technology.
The same fabric and process have also been used to create unique pieces by Italian companies that will be on display: a lamp by Oceano Oltreluce; jewellery by Pianegonda; and sneakers by Sturlini Firenze.
Pitti Uomo takes place between June 17 and 20. Denim brands exhibiting include Italy’s Tramarossa and Guess Jeans.
