Soorty dissects design for circularity
Pakistan based denim supplier Soorty has investigated the potential of designing for circularity in a collaborative effort that has led to the creation of eight responsible denim pieces, showcased at Soorty’s New York showroom during the January Kingpins show.

Developed with The Lycra Company, Lenzing, Marmara Hemp and Jeanologia, the capsule collection is designed to draw awareness to the importance of making high quality clothing and the environmental and social impacts of fashion production and consumption.

The vertically integrated company is dedicated to making better jeans from fibre to finish. The capsule collection is made from low impact fibres made by The Lycra Company, Lenzing and Marmara Hemp with recycled cotton produced in Soorty’s own recycling facility.

Two sets of the collection were produced, one finished by Soorty in Pakistan in its laundry that is equipped with advanced machinery ensuring low impact and responsible processes. The other set was finished by Jeanologia in its new hub in Miami.

Eda Dikmen, Soorty’s marketing & communications manager, commented: “Now is a great time to redesign everything, driven by a new, responsible mindset and using new tools. When it comes to denim and jeans, making clothes that people love to wear, own a long time and feel good as they look good is an integral part of circularity.”
